Agnes M. Gordon Obituary (1906 - 2011)

ODELL -- Anna Marie "Agnes" Gordon, 104, Odell, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 23, 2011) at her residence. Her funeral will be at noon Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Odell. The Rev. David Sabel will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Odell Food Bank or St. Paul Grade School. She was born March 1, 1906, in Nevada, Ill., daughter of John William and Christina Halm Miller. She married Roger James Gordon on Dec. 28, 1947, in Danville. He died March 17, 1973. She is survived by foster children, Ralph (Joyce) Widensee, Wisconsin, and Barbara (Michael) Rouleau, Odell; sisters, Ursuline Whitney, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Joan Flanegin, Annapolis, Md. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one foster child, John Corrigan; two brothers, Alphonce Miller and Henry Miller; and three sisters, Mary Magdaline Welte, Dorathea Miller and Constance Drake. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Odell. Agnes had worked for the VA Department and later had been a nurse's aide at Humiston Haven (Asta Care) of Pontiac and Odell Shelter. She had belonged to the Circle 10 of St. Paul Catholic Church, Odell She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Metamora, Metamora High School and Brown's Business College in Ottawa.
