Bridget "Betty" Lame Obituary (1924 - 2021)

Bridget "Betty" Lame, 97 of Pontiac, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac. A Memorial mass will be held on Thursday September 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father David Sabel officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac. Visitation will be held Thursday September 30, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family is requesting that all covid protocols are followed, including the wearing of masks. Betty was born February 26, 1924, in Dublin, Ireland to Martin and Anne (O'Leary) Morrissey. She married Milburn Lame on May 28, 1955, at St. Bernadette Church in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He passed away on April 25, 2006. Surviving are her children, Charles (Joan) Lame, Edwardsville, David L. (Michelle) Lame, Huntington Woods, Michigan and Anne M. (Joe) Vinyard, Romeoville; grandchildren, Shannon (Hans Gerwitz) Thomas, Amsterdam and Raphael Lame, Detroit, Michigan; brother, Martin (Jean Mulligan) Morrissey, Kennington, England; sister, Anne Morrissey, Naas, Ireland. She was preceded by her parents, husband, one son, Kenneth W. Lame who passed away at age of 3 (1963); one brother, Patrick Morrissey; three sisters: Rev. Mother Sr., Catherine Morrissey, Mary Morrissey and Margaret Morrissey. Betty graduated from high school in 1940 Dublin, Ireland and she graduated from St. Steven's Hospital Chelsea, England with a Nursing Certificate in 1947. Betty was a Registered Nurse her entire career, retiring from St. James Hospital, Pontiac, Illinois at age 65 and in 2012 from Evenglow Lodge. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Zonta, Daughters of Isabella and the Moose. Memorials may be made to Children's Cancer Fund.
