Charles F. Walsh Obituary (1916 - 2007)

PONTIAC - Charles F. Walsh, 91, Pontiac, died at 6:45 p.m. Monday (Oct. 15, 2007) at Evenglow Lodge Tjardes Health Center, Pontiac. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac, with Monsignor Thomas Mack officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac. Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac. He was born April 28, 1916, in Cardiff, to James Herbert and Gertrude Mary Gifford Walsh. He married Myrle Hall on Aug. 14, 1943, in Campus. She survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are son, Michael C. (Shelia) Walsh, Huntley; four daughters, Suzanne I. (John) Shepherd, Rockford; Mary K. (Charles) Fieldman, Herscher; Ginger R. (Bill) Engle, Springfield; and Camilla J. (Ronald) Rabjohns, Peoria; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His parents and two brothers, Dale and James Walsh, preceded him in death. He had been an accountant for Caterpillar in Joliet for 20 years until retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac; and a member of the Pontiac VFW, Moose and Elks Lodge. He was educated at Campus Grade School and Reddick High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946.
