Clair J. Bugs Vitzthum Obituary (1933 - 2015)

Clair Joseph "Bugs" Vitzthum, 82, of Pontiac, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at OSF St. James John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. He was born September 14, 1933 in Pontiac, Illinois to Harry W. Vitzthum and Irene C. (Schopp) Vitzthum. He married Martha A. Johns on June 7, 1952 she survives in Pontiac. Bugs grew up in Saunemin and graduated from Saunemin High School in 1952. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac with a rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m. His services will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Father David Sabel to officiate with burial at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Saunemin. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Martha Vitzthum; their children, John (Nancy) Vitzthum, Marsha Weber, Rick (Elaine) Vitzthum all of Pontiac, Norma (Charles) Ehrhardt of Emington, Nancy (Jon) Haag of Saunemin, Sherrie (Russell) Kuntz of Gridley, Charles (Lisa) Vitzthum, Mary (Dennis) Leach, Teresa Masching all of Pontiac; two sisters, Jean Girardi of Bloomington and Vivian "Sue" (Al) Rich of Saunemin; one brother, Bill Vitzthum of Pontiac; one sister-in-law, Delores Vitzthum of Payallup, WA; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Vitzthum; and one brother-in-law, George Girardi. Bugs was an auctioneer at Pontiac Sale Barn in his days and farmed all his life in the Saunemin area retiring in 2012. He loved to go for rides, attend his grandchildren's activities, watch TV and joke with anyone who would listen. Memorials may be made to Evenglow Lodge - Pontiac, St. Mary's Church - Pontiac, Saunemin Community Building, and Saunemin Fire Department.
