Edith I. Durham Obituary (1933 - 2019)

Edith I. Durham, 86, of Pontiac, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 9:02 a.m. at her home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A private family service will be held at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac at a later date. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Edith was born November 17, 1933, in Long Point, IL to Bruce and Ina (Robertson) Melvin. She married Lester L. Durham on April 24, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are her four children, Georgia Howard, Sylvia (John) McDowell, Steven (Jessica) Durham, and Cindy Robinson, all of Pontiac, IL; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) McCormick, Mandy (Dave Steinlicht) Greene, Toy Howard, William Robinson, Christopher (Brooke) Durham, and Corey Durham; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Donna) Melvin of Wenona, IL; and sister, Betty (John) Foote of Wenona, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Doris Kinder; and two brothers, Orville and Eugene Melvin. Edith was a loving homemaker to her family. She enjoyed reading and quilting and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Memorials may be made to OSF HealthCare Foundation, 530 NE Glen Oak Ave, Peoria, IL 61637.
