Ellen S. Fitzgerald Obituary (1922 - 2017)

Ellen S. Fitzgerald, 95, of Pontiac, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at Pontiac Healthcare & Rehab in Pontiac. Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac with Deacon Jim Wallace officiating. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Ellen was born January 23, 1922 in Rockford, IL to James and Bernice (Bradshaw) Close. She married Robert Soule and later John Fitzgerald, both are deceased. She is survived by her children, Richard E. Soule of Graymont, IL; step children, Bob Soule of Streator, IL, John (Vickie) Fitzgerald of Pontiac, IL, Dan (Sue) Fitzgerald of Pontiac, IL, Jerry (Patty) Fitzgerald of Bloomington, IL, and Pat Fitzgerald of Pontiac, IL; sisters, Esther Casson and Beverly Kaisner, both of Pontiac; grandchildren, Joe Franklin of Georgia, Kris (Pat O'Neill) Soule of Bloomington, IL, Lisa (Bart) Jennings of Pontiac, IL, Tom Soule of Pontiac, IL, Jennifer (Rob) Teno of Pontiac, IL, Jessica Soule, of Graymont, IL, and Jayme Soule of Tennessee; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brothers, James Close and Bob Close; sister, Mary Ellis; sons, Thomas Soule and James Franklin; daughter, Kathy Kelly; step son, Terry soule; two grandchildren, Lori Tull and Candice Kelly; and great-grandchild, Dakota Bohm. Ellen was a Proofreader at Johnson Press for over 30 years. Ellen loved her family and was called by many names; Gram, Fitz, Mom, Grandma. She was always the person to go to if you had a problem. She was one in a million. Ellen will be greatly missed by anyone whose life she has touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
