Evelyn V. Gall Obituary (1917 - 2007)

ODELL - Evelyn V. Gall, 90, Odell, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 9, 2007) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Church of Odell, with the Rev. Pinckney Love and the Rev. Michael Fender officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Duffy Funeral Home, Odell. Memorials may be made to Odell Public Library or Odell EMS/Fire Department. She was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Graymont, daughter of John and Verdena Iverson DeGroodt. She married Henry Thomas Gall on Jan. 19, 1937, in Pontiac. He died Oct. 5, 1996. Surviving are son, John W. (Jan) Gall, Odell; two daughters, Jeanne Willhoite, Rockford, and Joyce (Bob) Anderson, Punta Gorda, Fla.; sister, Doris Hubbs, Lockport; nine grandchildren, Donald Gall, Steve Gall, Laura Meador, Michael Gall, Sandra Conley, Becky Steinback, Bob Willhoite, Robin Bellot and Margie Rosenthal; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and one brother, John DeGroodt. She and her husband Henry farmed in the Odell area throughout their life. She was a member of United Church of Odell, where she served as a trustee for many years. She was a graduate of Odell High School. She was a 4-H leader for 17 years and a member of the Women of the Moose of Bloomington, formerly of Pontiac. She enjoyed sewing, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
