Everett D. Bud Johns Obituary (1928 - 2014)

Everett D. "Bud" Johns, 86, of Pontiac, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at 6:08 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. A graveside service with full military honors will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Camp Cemetery in Esmen Township, IL. Deacon George Wagner will officiate. A luncheon will be served at St. Mary's Parish Hall immediately following the graveside service. Bud was born on March 20, 1928 in Pontiac, IL, son of Alvin and Lillie (Dudgeon) Johns. He married Margaret "Peggy" Ann Meredith on September 16, 1950. He is survived by his sons, Johnny (Linda) Johns of Euless, TX, Jerry (Debra Hallam) Johns of Pontiac, IL, and Jimmy (Diane) Johns of Pontiac, IL; sisters, Dorothy Flurer of Pontiac, IL, Mary Barb Wynistorf of Pontiac, IL, and Clara "Sis" Stevens of Champaign, IL; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; one son, Jacky Johns; four sisters, Velma Johns, Florence Raube, Madeline Gourley, and Prue Louderback; two brothers, Alvin Ray Johns and William Johns; and one brother in infancy. Bud served in the U. S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked in construction and also was a car salesman at Wolf-Jacobson Chevrolet in Pontiac for many years. He was a lifetime member of Pontiac VFW Post 886. Bud was an antique tool collector and enjoyed antiquing. He also enjoyed going to casinos with his special friends, Jim and Chuck Blankenship.
