Gwendolyn Voytas Obituary (1945 - 2013)

Gwendolyn Voytas, 67, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. at her residence. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Pastor Brian Bill will officiate. Friends may call on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Livingston County Community Pantry, 420 N Plum Street, Pontiac, IL 61764. Gwendolyn was born on July 23, 1945 in Elgin, IL, daughter of Herbert and Virginia (Anderson) Matteson. She married Albert G. Voytas on June 20, 1972 in Chicago, IL. He survives in Pontiac, IL. Also surviving are one son, Steven (Anne) Nelson of Joliet, IL; two daughters, Diana (Tom Brindle) Badger of Mocksville, NC and Paula (Rob) Wetstein of Shorewood, IL; two sisters, Marsha (Roger) Curneal of Princeton, IL and Christi Anderson of Shreveport, LA; and six grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven, Kathryn, Sarah, Ally and Tricia. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara and Ginger and one brother, Vic. Gwendolyn worked as the Secretary of Troy Shorewood Grade School for over 20 years, retiring in January of 2006. She volunteered at the Livingston County Community Pantry and at OSF St. James Medical Center at the gift shop. She was a graduate of Lemont High School, Class of 1963.
