Jimmie H. Schott Obituary (1945 - 2020)

Jimmie H. Schott, of Pontiac, IL, formerly of Odell, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, December 26, 2020, at his home in Pontiac. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Elaine McKinney officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Odell at a later date. Jimmie was born May 2,1945 in Pontiac, Illinois to Lloyd and Francis (Dixon) Schott. He was the 4th of 7 children. Surviving siblings are Viola (Carl) Snyder, Mary (Bart) Davis, Terry (Gayle) Schott, and Cheryl Keegan and Honorary extended family Frank and Nancy Legner. He was proceeded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 56 years, Diane Schott; his brother Melvin Schott; and sister, Judy DeLong. Jimmie married Diane R. Schott on October 24, 1964, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Odell, IL. They have three children, Christine (Daryl) Johnson, Lonnie (Julia) Schott, Beth (Ted Peckham) Schott, along with 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He served in the Marine Corps from 1962-1965 and was deployed to Vietnam receiving service medals including good conduct, marksman, and Vietnam Expeditionary. He was the owner/operator of Jim Schott Construction from 1991-2016 (25 years). He also farmed with Frank Legner on and off for about 40 years. He served as the secretary of trustees for the Odell Fire Department as well as the planning/zoning committee for Odell. He was loved by so many, especially his wife and family.
