Joan M. Gullo Obituary (1934 - 2011)

PONTIAC -- Joan M. Gullo, 76, of Pontiac died at 4:58 p.m. Friday (April 8, 2011) at Woodridge Supportive Living Residence, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Father David Sabel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday with the rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac. Memorials may be made to the family of Joan Gullo. She was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Ottawa, a daughter of George E. and Edith Sterling Barber. She married Dominic G. Gullo on June 7, 1958. He died Jan. 4, 1996. Survivors include a son, Edward A. (Martha) Gullo, DeLand; two daughters, Suzanne M. (Jane LoPiccalo) Gullo, Bloomington; and Mary M. (David) Melvin, Chatsworth; two brothers, Donald E. (Louise) Barber, Eureka; and Michael J. Barber, Peoria Heights; 11 grandchildren, Betsy Anne Gullo Moore, Michelle C. and Jessica C., Anthony Gullo, Melissa, Amanda, Aaron, Rebecca, Margaret and Katherine Melvin and Joseph LoPiccalo; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Bryan Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Andrea Cohen; and five grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. She was a homemaker and a member of Women's Guild, TPO, Vermillion Players and Daughters of Isabella and was a St. Mary's adoration captain. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Peoria and The Academy of Our Lady, Peoria.
