Joseph E. Howard Obituary (1953 - 2010)

PONTIAC -- Joseph E. Howard, 56, Pontiac, died Monday (Jan. 4, 2010) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Fairbury, with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Pontiac. He was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Pontiac, son of Dallas and June Meints Howard. His mother survives in Fairbury. He married Georgia Durham on Nov. 25, 1972, in Fairbury. She survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are son, Toy Howard, Pontiac; daughters, Jennifer (Robert) McCormick, Cornell, and Mandy Greene, Pontiac; brother, David (Cindy) Buchanan, Fairbury; sisters, Peg (Darryl) Stiles, Fairbury, and Deb (Dave) Suttles, Georgia; and grandchildren, Melinda Greene, Alexus Howard, Victoria Greene, Daniel Foster and Devann McCormick. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Kim Meints. Joe was self-employed. He enjoyed selling items at flea markets throughout the area. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Fairbury. Joseph belonged to the Threshermen's Reunion Club. He attended Fairbury schools. He will be greatly missed by his family and his faithful friend, his dog, Joey.
