Kristy M. Smith Obituary (1972 - 2017)

Kristy Marie Smith, 44, of Cornell, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10:55 a.m. at Richard Owens Hospice Center in Peoria, IL. A private family service will be held at a later date. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Kristy was born December 6, 1972 in Streator, IL to Jim and Wendy (Girard) Cooper, both survive. She married John Smith on September 16, 1994. He survives in Cornell. Also surviving are her son, Isaac J. Smith; two brothers, Andy (Erin) Cooper and Ramme (Jodi) Cooper; several wonderful nieces and nephews whom she adored, Haley Smith, Eli Smith, Paige Cooper, Mattie Cooper, Lauren Hemenover, Will Hemenover, Maci Cooper and Cade Cooper; and countless wonderful cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ira and Elsie Cooper and Robert and Florence Girard. Kristy was a graduate of Flanagan-Cornell High School, Class of 1991. She worked at several local businesses throughout her life until she became sick over four years ago. At that point, she focused her time on raising her son, Isaac. She loved her family and friends to the fullest. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses who helped her along her journey. Kristy never knew an enemy and was an angel on earth for all that knew her.
