Larry Ronald Hamilton, Sr. Obituary (1953 - 2018)

Larry Ronald Hamilton, Sr., 65, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 2:36 a.m. near his home. A private family service will be held at Patty Cemetery in Pontiac at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. The family requests that the dress be casual. Larry was born May 24, 1953 in Pontiac, IL to Frank and Ola (Bolt) Hamilton of Pontiac. He married Helen Taulbee on January 13, 1973, in Pontiac. He later married Delores "Dee" Moyer on September 6, 1998, in Pigeon Forge, TN. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Nicole) Hamilton, Jenny Hamilton, and Larry (Amanda) Hamilton, all of Pontiac; step-children, Linda Bailey and Larry DeLong, both of Pontiac and Lori DeLong of Alexandria, IL; brothers, Herschel "Bob" Carter, David Hamilton, James (Virginia) Hamilton, and Jeff (Shirley) Hamilton, all of Pontiac; sister, Linda Pelley of Liberty, KY; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry joined the United States Army on November 4, 1971. He later returned to Pontiac and worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 23 years until his retirement in 2010. Larry was an avid fisherman, often travelling to Arkansas where he eventually retired. Larry loved bluegrass and old country music and played the banjo with his brothers and family. He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather. Memorials contributions may be directed to his children.
