Leola R. Lee Farrell Obituary (1931 - 2013)

Leola R. "Lee" Farrell, 81, of Pontiac, died at 5:36 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at ASTA Care Center in Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, with Pastor Heidi Punt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, rural Pontiac. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Lee was born May 29, 1931, in Lincoln. Her foster parents were Mel and Rachel (Ahrends) Tuttle. She married James J. Farrell on April 26, 1974, in Pontiac. He passed away on March 25, 1996. Surviving are three daughters, Diana E. (Carl) Tull of Fairbury, Donna R. (Bill) Skonetski of Blackstone, and Carla L. Schlueter of Flanagan; a half sister, Kay Blomquist of Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Eileen Tinges of Pontiac; 12 grandchildren, Chris Tull, Carmody Bandy, Dawn Cox, Mandy Burnett, Emily Wilkens, Shelli Sargeant, Kelly Tull, David Mays, Derek Mays, Jennifer Newbury, Dan Mays and Samantha Lyons; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Lisa Robisky of Pontiac and Don Farrell of Mobile, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her foster parents; one daughter, Laura J. Marshall; two foster brothers, Oscar Moore and Howard Tuttle; one foster sister, Gladys Jones; one grandson, Paul Marshall and one stepson, Jim Farrell. Lee attended Pontiac Township High School, Washington Community High School and graduated from Chenoa High School, Class of 1949. She had been employed at Louis Allis, Motorola, Flanagan Florist and Lilli's. She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and 49'ers of PTHS. Lee enjoyed bowling, gardening, crocheting, cats, playing Scrabble, raising four wonderful daughters and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greeted at the Pearly Gates by Jim, Laura and Paul. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
