Mickey A. Griffith Obituary (1955 - 2019)

Mickey Andrew Griffith, 64, of Chenoa, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at 3:14 a.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. His service will be Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac with full military rites to follow the service. Pastor James O. Wolfe III will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Mickey was born March 4, 1955, in Pontiac, IL to Oley and Opal (Tripp) Griffith. He married Sandra J. Henderson on March 27, 1975 in Pontiac. She survives in Chenoa. Also surviving are his children, Corey J. (Kristy) Griffith of Hudson, IL and Carey J. Griffith of Bloomington, IL; granddaughter, Ella A. Griffith; brother, Carl "Joe" (Cheryl) Griffith of Chenoa, IL; and sisters, Alma Lalicker of Tucson, AZ and Mary "Peg" (George) Bayer of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Mickey was a graduate of Odell High School, Class of 1973. He served in the United States Army Infantry from 1973 to 1979, having been stationed in Alaska, Korea, and Germany. He was an Assistant Press Operator at R. R. Donnelley in Dwight for 36 years until he retired in 2015. He was a lifetime member of Pontiac VFW Post #886. Memorials may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association.
