Otis Harold Soto Obituary (1940 - 2009)

PONTIAC - Otis Harold Soto, 69, Pontiac, died Friday (May 22, 2009) at his residence in Pontiac. His funeral will be at noon Tuesday at the Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac, with the Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of Freestar Bank, for the children of Pontiac and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Pontiac, son of Primo and Jessie Phyllis Decker Soto. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Ann Smith, Pontiac; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Daniel Soto; three sisters, Frances Steinsultz, Phyllis Witte and Delores Perdue. He was employed by the City of Pontiac Streets Department for 27 years, retiring in 1996. He was educated in Pontiac schools. Otis cared deeply for his community, donating playground equipment at Chautauqua Park in Pontiac. He also enjoyed participating in many local parades through the years.
