R. Don Pappy Murray Obituary (1951 - 2014)

R. Don "Pappy" Murray, Jr., 63, of Pontiac, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at 6:30 a.m. at ASTA Care Center in Pontiac. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Reverend Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Following the service, a meal will be served from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Freakster's Roadhouse, 902 W. Custer Avenue, Pontiac, IL. Food donations welcomed. Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Pappy was born August 7, 1951 in Bloomington, IL, son of Robert Murray, Sr. and Barbara (Lawyer) Fry. Barbara survives in Saunemin, IL. He is also survived by his significant other, Joyce Cohen of Pontiac, IL; sons, Robert Murray III of Saunemin, IL, Matthew Murray of Saunemin, IL, and Timothy Murray of Springfield, IL; daughter, Kim Murray of Pontiac, IL; the children of Joyce Cohen, Tammy (Todd) Whitten of Pontiac, IL, Lisa (Chris Hornsby) Requena of Pontiac, IL, and Ricky (Shawna) McDonald of Vienna, IL; sister, Kathy Wright of Watseka, IL; 18 Grandchildren; and 6 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father, Robert. Pappy attended Woodland High School and served in the U.S. Army. He had been a truck driver for over 30 years and after retirement he worked at Futures Unlimited in Pontiac. Memorials may be made to the family.
