Richard W. Dick Gourley Obituary (1950 - 2019)

Richard W. "Dick" Gourley, 68, of Cornell, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at 5:32 a.m. at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Dick was born October 11, 1950, in Pontiac, IL to Samuel T. and Dorthy Mae (Cashmer) Gourley. He married Patti Rupprecht on January 9, 1982 in Pontiac. She survives in Cornell. He is also survived by his children, Matt (Crystal) Gourley of Pontiac, IL, Ryan (Lisa Alsdorf) Gourley of Cornell, IL, and Rich (Jennifer) Gourley of Pontiac, IL; grandchildren, McKenna "Skeeter" Gourley, Maddie "Peanut" Gourley, Kadin "Buckwheat" Lane, Tyler Tangman, Braden Tangman, Jeff Gourley, and Nicholas Breneman; brothers, Jack (Berta) Gourley of Pontiac, IL and Mitchel (Colleen) Gourley of Pontiac, IL; sisters, Debra (Tim) Dunahee of Cornell, IL Letitia (Dale) Stokes of Graymont, IL, Linda Ruddy of Cornell, IL, Amy Kridner of Cornell, IL, and Dorothy (Robert) Shephard of Pontiac, IL; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Gourley of Pontiac, IL and Karen Gourley of Pontiac, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald T. Gourley and Samuel A. Gourley; brothers-in-law, Richard Kridner and Michael Ruddy; and sister-in-law, Margaret Meg-Gourley. Dick was a graduate of Cornell High School, Class of 1968. He was an Assembly Supervisor at Interlake Mecalux for 47 years. Dick was a member of United Methodist Church in Cornell, IL. He loved golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He greatly loved his grandchildren and his face would light up as soon he saw his granddaughters. He was known for never speaking ill of anyone. Memorials may be made to the family for the education of his granddaughters at 1340 N. Chicago, Pontiac, IL 61764.
