Rita A. Whitmer Obituary (1924 - 2007)

PONTIAC -- Rita Agnes Whitmer, 82, Pontiac, died at 4:43 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 1, 2007) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac, with Monsignor Thomas Mack officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Duffy Funeral Home in Pontiac. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, Pontiac Public Library or American Red Cross. She was born June 4, 1924, in Chicago, daughter of Casmir and Johanna Ramholz Lange. She married Harold L. Whitmer on Sept. 27, 1947, in Chicago. He died Aug. 19, 1988. Surviving are daughter, Susan (Paul) Schroder, Odell; and two grandchildren, Jeffery Schroder, Bloomington, and Mark Schroder, Kent, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Jerome Lange. Rita was a homemaker. She was educated in the Chicago Catholic schools. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. Rita also belonged to OSF Saint James Auxiliary, Clionians, Pontiac Women's Club and American Legion Auxiliary all of Pontiac. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her two grandsons. She enjoyed playing and being active with her bridge clubs. She also loved all the Chicago sports teams.
