Ruth E. Ewing Obituary (1928 - 2016)

Ruth E. Ewing, 87, of Flanagan, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 9:47 p.m. at Evenglow Health Center in Pontiac. Her service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in rural Flanagan with a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Paul Lellelid will officiate. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in Flanagan. Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Ruth was born July 23, 1928 in Flanagan, IL to Eilt and Grace (Manhusen) Rients. She married William M. "Bill" Ewing on July 24, 1949 at St. Petri's Church Flanagan, IL. He passed away November 25, 2008. She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Pat) Duffy of Pontiac, IL, Elaine (John) Krupka of Bloomington, IL, Mary (Kevin) Schneider of Flanagan, IL, Laura (John) Ruff of Long Point, IL, and Nancy (Todd) Barton of Manville, IL; sister, Eliese Gueldenhaar of Flanagan, IL; sister-in-law, Beatrice Rients of Long Point, IL; brother-in-law, Oakley Smith of Flanagan, IL; grandchildren, Allison (Marc) Duffy, Sarah Duffy, John Schneider, Martha (Brendan) Greil, J. J. (Kathryn) Krupka, David (Allie) Ruff, Emily Ruff, Grace Ruff, Glen Ruff, and Ali Barton; and great-grandchildren, Liam Greil, Aidan Greil, Rachel Duffy, Ada Duffy, and Baby Ruff due in August 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; five brothers; and three sisters. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Flanagan, IL.
