Shirl M. Knopp Obituary (1936 - 2008)

BLOOMINGTON -- Shirl M. Knopp, 72, of Bloomington passed away at 12:15 p.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2008) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac, with Father David Whiteside officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Patty Cemetery, Pontiac. Memorials may be made to the family of Shirl M. Knopp. She was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Eau Claire, Wis., a daughter of Helmer and Evelyn McDonald Strom. She married David L. Knopp on Feb. 14, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona, Wis. He survives in Bloomington. Also surviving are two sons, Dave (Elizabeth) Knopp Jr. of Sterling, and Steve (Mary) Knopp of Rochelle; three daughters, Margie (Ron) Eads of Washington, Vanessa (Jeff) Krumholz of Morton, and Liz (Pete) Kelhert of Mackinaw; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Kirchner. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bloomington. Shirl was an excellent pianist, playing the piano for 15 years at Von Maur in Normal. Shirl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
