Sonny G. Diemer Obituary (1946 - 2016)

Sonny G. Diemer, 69, of Saunemin, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 12:00 a.m. at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice in Peoria. Her service will be Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom with Pastor Mauricio Vieira officiating. Burial will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Saunemin. Visitation will be Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Sonny was born September 7, 1946 in Ottawa, IL to Lloyd L. Allen and Georgie P. ( Krug ) Allen Tissiere. She married Alvin George Diemer on September 12, 1965. They had celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2015 with a family dinner and card shower. He passed away January 16, 2016. Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey A. Diemer of Morton, IL, Joseph G. Diemer of Bloomington, IL, and James J. (Karen) Diemer of Troy, MO; one brother, Bob Allen of Ottawa, IL; two brothers-in-law, Milton Johnson of Odell, IL and John Diemer of Saunemin, IL; grandchildren, Bradley (Jesica), Tristen, Jacob, Sara, Lauren and Tyler Diemer, Lola Carman; and great-grandchildren, Brody, Kadyn and Kaleb. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and two sisters, Patsy Allen and Nancy Johnson. Sonny was a graduate of Odell High School, Class of 1965, and then attended Southern Illinois University until 1967. She had been an Administrative Assistant for Trainor Grain and Supply Company. Sonny had started in 1979 retiring after 30 plus years. Sonny was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Cullom, IL. She served several roles throughout her life supporting her church. Sonny enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren, listening to music, taking special trips with Alvin, Nancy and Milton. She also enjoyed spending time gardening, canning and shopping. She was also well known for her popcorn balls at Halloween.
